“Nothing changed in heaven on Good Friday, but everything potentially changed on earth.”
– Richard Rhor
Today’s Readings: Isaiah 52:13-53:12, John 18:1-19:42
We are loved.
We are valued.
We were sought out.
And it’s kind of horrible isn’t it? To realize that our attention is so fleeting, our focus so scattered that God had to come and break through our sins and struggles in such a devastating way. This Friday while terrible on so many levels is in fact so very good. As much of a contradiction as it seems this really is the best of Fridays where we remember and acknowledge just how far God was willing to go to be reconciled with us, to bring us back into the fold.
It is a Good Friday, the best of Fridays. Let us give thanks for a God who loves us. Let us give thanks for a saviour who saves. Let us lives our lives in such a way that reflects this great gift. Let us be signs of grace, truth and light in a world that still today struggles with darkness.
