“…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
I stumbled upon this verse on Boxing Day and something in it resonated with me. I realized that I need to commit to this process of discernment fully. I need to dedicate myself to finding out answers, exploring God’s will in my life and be open to the fullness of God’s vision. In order to be open to God’s direction though I firmly believe I need to be rooted in my life and my faith.
As a person I am most centered if I take care of my mind, body and spirit. I feel most connected to God and God’s will if I am taking care of me in all aspects. I think it leaves me fresh and open to hear what I need to hear.
In order to fully embrace this Season of Discernment I need to commit to taking care of myself. Too often I take care of other things and push the things I need to do for myself to the side. As a result I am committing to taking time each week to meditate and pray on scripture, run on my treadmill and take some time for myself to enjoy family, friends or quiet time alone. As I blog about life these things will probably pop up throughout the week as I find that God often speaks to me through the simple things in life.
